Welcome back to Lez Hang Out, the podcast that is officially entering the double digits club. This week, co-hosts Leigh (@lshfoster) and Ellie (@elliebrigida) reminisce about the past ten years, beginning with the airport phone call that started it all.
Lez be honest, it’s been an absolute rollercoaster of a decade. Queer media and fandom have changed almost beyond recognition. Weekly releases, longer seasons, queer-focused conventions, sapphic shows, and highly engaged casts once gave fandoms room to grow. It wasn’t perfect. Hollywood still loved burying our gays once we got attached; but at least we had them. Now, queer characters are harder to find, seasons are shorter, and if we do get a queer show, there’s a good chance it won’t even make it to season two.
