Porch pride 2021
When Pride events
everywhere were
cancelled or postponed
due to Covid19, we
knew we had to do
something to bring the
community together...
The coronavirus pandemic disproportionately impacted communities of color and we wanted to create an event that would be able to directly benefit QPOC while remaining socially distant.
Porch Pride gave us a way to earn money for multiple POC focused charities AND a way to bring members of the community together to celebrate the beauty of living our lives as our authentic selves and to celebrate the strides toward equality we have made throughout the years.
The idea behind porch pride has always been about
truly standing together, while still staying apart (for now!). When we imagined a virtual pride, there was something too impersonal about sitting behind yet another zoom screen alone in our apartments. By not only streaming entertainment for attendees, but also encouraging folks to decorate their porches with rainbow flags, sit outside, and celebrate with their neighbors Porch Pride was able to bring the light, life, and warmth back into pride.
